(May B.) Leasure Elementary School is getting a brand new garden!
We will build new garden beds and fill them with soil the same day. To make this happen, Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids needs volunteers. We will divide into teams to accomplish these goals. Depending upon the number of volunteers, and equipment available, it will take us up to 5 hrs to complete the work.
When: Tuesday, August 11th, 9am – 2pm (rain date Thursday, August 13th)
Where: May B. Leasure Elementary, 1015 Church Rd, Newark, DE 19702
More Background: Join Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids (HFHK) to "play in the dirt". We need a team of 10 to 15 people to make short work of this invigorating task. Gloves and tools will be provided, but we can always use more. Please wear appropriate clothes and footwear. Also please bring a refillable water bottle if you have one, we will have extra water on site.

HFHK staff will demonstrate how to build the garden beds and how to fill them with soil. If you come later in the day and miss the demonstration, please find an HFHK staff member when you arrive, so we can give you instructions. PLEASE wear clothes and sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty! If you are able to bring your own tools, please do.
We are most in need of the following:
1.) Power drills/drivers
2.) Wheelbarrows for moving soil
3.) Shovels
4.) Hard rakes
The more of these items we have, the faster the work will go! Please label your tools. We will have Sharpies available so you can label them when you arrive, if you haven’t already. We hope to see you there!
