The Freedom Center for Independent Living (FCIL) located in Middletown, Delaware is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services which requires 51% of the Board and staff to have a disability. We are people with and without disabilities assisting people with disabilities.
FCIL is governed by a Board of Directors and is actively seeking additional board members. Persons interested in becoming a member of the Board of Directors can go to www.fcilde.org, learn about our organization and, if interested, complete the application under “Get Involved” and mail it to The Freedom Center at 105 Sleepy Hollow Drive, Suite A, Middletown, DE 19709.
Our mission is to protect the civil rights and promote the empowerment of people with disabilities and their families. By serving as a resource center to assist persons with disabilities and, as appropriate, their family members and the professionals that serve them, we strive to help people in achieving and maintaining an independent lifestyle. Our catchment area includes Newark, Bear, New Castle, Middletown, St. Georges, Port Penn, Odessa, Delaware City and Townsend.
