Opportunities From: Volunteer Delaware

Volunteer: Sexual Assault Helpline Advocate (Statewide)

SARC’s helpline advocates provide compassionate, confidential support to survivors of all forms of sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Volunteers will provide crisis intervention, support, and resource referrals to callers and clients and conduct safety, suicide risk, and lethality assessments when appropriate. These advocates serve as a critical bridge between immediate crisis response and long-term healing. Through advocacy, connection, and care, volunteers help survivors access resources both within SARC and throughout the broader community, providing support at each step on their journey toward safety and healing.

During a volunteer’s chosen on-call shift, they are responsible for responding to any helpline calls, which will be routed to their personal cell phone. Helpline advocates volunteer remotely but are expected to be in a quiet area when answering calls.

All advocates will be asked to complete an application and interview. Volunteers do not need prior experience but are required to participate in initial training and advanced workshops. They are expected to communicate with the on-call Supervisor during their shifts and complete accurate reports in a timely manner.
