The State Office of Volunteerism is seeking volunteers in Sussex County to support the Building Books Across Delaware initiative, a statewide literacy and community service project in recognition of the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 and the National Day of Service.
Volunteers may assist with:
- Community book drives and tabling events
- Collecting and organizing donated books
- Sorting books by age and grade level
- Preparing books for distribution to Delaware schools
- Supporting literacy and community engagement efforts
The statewide goal is to collect and distribute 3,000 books to schools across Delaware.
Donations of new or gently used books for children and youth in grades K–12 are especially encouraged.
We are also seeking community organizations, clubs, and partners interested in hosting collection bins or supporting local book drive efforts.
