Volunteer: Newark Bike Project VolunteerWho can volunteer? You can! We don’t require any prior bicycle experience. All you need is a willingness to learn and help. Most volunteers are over 18 years of age, but volunteers between 10–17 years of age can volunteer with a parent or with a signed permission form on file. Volunteer Benefits You’ll have a lot of fun as a part of a healthy community of people helping people. You’ll gain real skills. Some of our volunteers started out as total beginners, and have progressed towards careers as professional bike mechanics. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, so your participation will most likely give you credit towards community service hours- just check with your program and with us to be sure.Based on hours logged, additional benefits include discounted purchases and special events (mechanic training classes, appreciation party, etc). How can I help? There are plenty of ways to get involved, including cleaning and photographing bikes, sorting parts, and welcoming and helping customers. One popular form of volunteering is assisting with repairs on customers’ bikes and donated bikes. If you don’t know how to do something, we can teach you- allowing you to turn around and use that knowledge to help others. Volunteers help run educational programs, events, and more. We are open to new projects and ideas based on the unique interests and skills you bring. Get Started! If you’re ready to volunteer or just want to learn more by getting a tour of the shop, schedule an orientation by emailing us at info@NewarkBikeProject.org. Thank you for considering volunteering with us. Our mission is to support sustainability through empowerment, education, and community. If you like bikes and want to help our planet, NBP is a community thinking globally and taking action locally. We look forward to meeting you. Agency: Newark Bike Project Who can volunteer? You can!
