Opportunities From: Volunteer Delaware

The Newark Arts Alliance is in need of social media assistants, as part of our Shop Committee. In this role, you will create social media posts to advertise the art in our shops. You will also work directly with the shop artists to connect and tag them in posts. Volunteers should have previous experience in creating social media posts, and should have an active social media presence.

The Newark Arts Alliance is in need of a class registrar assistant for our Education Committee. In this role, you will work directly with the Executive Director to gather information from our teachers for the upcoming semester. You will need to utilize info gathered via form responses to collate info into a Google Doc, editing as needed. You may also be tasked with creating social media posts to help promote classes. Volunteers should have prior editing experience, and be familiar with Google platforms.

The Newark Arts Alliance is in need of members for the Promotions Committee. As a committee member, you will help support our promotional efforts, including through social media posting, consulting on newsletter content, etc. This committee meets monthly.

The Newark Arts Alliance is in need of members to serve on the Special Events Committee. As a committee member, you will help plan and execute special events (such as fundraisers, parties, etc.). There are no prerequisites for this opportunity. Meetings will be event-specific and may vary; approximately, they will occur monthly.

The Newark Arts Alliance is in need of photographers for events. Volunteers will need to visit our programs and events to take photographs (scheduled in advance with us). Volunteers should present a portfolio or other demonstration of their photography skills beforehand. Volunteers will need to have their own equipment, as the Newark Arts Alliance will not be providing any. Images will be used in promotional materials, with credit given.

The Newark Arts Alliance is in need of volunteer photographers for our merchandise. As a volunteer, you will visit the shop monthly to take photos of merchandise in our gallery shop (all of it, including the jewelry). Volunteers should present a portfolio demonstrating their skillset. Volunteers will need to use their own equipment, as the Newark Arts Alliance will not be providing any. Images taken will be used in promotional materials, with credit given.

The Newark Arts Alliance needs volunteers to help with mailing and filing. This will involve organizing and preparing mailings by folding letters, addressing envelopes, etc. This opportunity will occur roughly 1-2 hours monthly.

The Newark Arts Alliance needs volunteers to assist with our Art to Go events at the Empowerment Center at New Ark United Church of Christ. At these events, you should share about your love of community arts with visitors and be an ambassador for the Newark Arts Alliance's offerings. Volunteers are required to have had 6 months of steady involvement with the Newark Arts Alliance. These events take place on the first Thursday of the month, roughly 4-5 times per year between 1PM and 3PM. 

The Newark Arts Alliance needs volunteers to help with flyer distribution. As a volunteer, you will pick up flyers at the Newark Arts Alliance and drop them off at set locations around Newark. You will need to communicate with the Executive Director to plan out your route. This opportunity will occur monthly.

The Newark Arts Alliance is in need of gallery monitors. As a gallery monitor, you will staff our Member's Gallery Shop. This will involve checking out customers and completing transactions, answering questions, and acting as an ambassador for the Newark Arts Alliance. Volunteers are required to have had at least 6 months of steady involvement with the NAA. Volunteers will work 4-hour shifts, with the option to work weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly. As a bonus, you may earn an extra 10% commission on artwork sold through the Newark Arts Alliance.

The Newark Arts Alliance is in need of a coordinator for our gallery monitors. You will be in charge of scheduling our volunteer gallery monitors, who run the shop during open hours. You will need to communicate with volunteers regarding any changes to scheduling, as well as communicate with the Executive Director and Administrative Assistant about the needs of gallery monitoring. As a bonus, you may receive a 0% commission on work sold in the shop (between January and October) or you may receive a $25 gift card for the shop, for each month of gallery monitor coverage. This volunteer opportunity will take roughly 4-6 hours each month, with flexibility on when these hours occur.
